Well This Has Been A Long Time Coming, Hasn't it?

2 min read

I didn’t exactly stumble into this. I’ve always dreamed about making a living from my art.

I just thought it was impossible.

You know, the whole starving artist thing. People love to tell you that you can’t make money as an artist, and for a long time, I believed them.

Which is funny, because I already proved the naysayers wrong once by building a successful photography business from nothing.
It’s wild how easily you can forget the lessons you’ve already learned.

Sweet Ruby Moon wasn’t part of some big strategic plan. It just kept tugging at me until I finally made space for it. Again.

Art is something I’ve circled back to my whole life.

In high school, when a teacher helped me see that making art isn’t about getting it “right", it's about the process.
In early motherhood, when I was desperate for something that was mine.
In the quiet in-between seasons, after burnout, after business-building, after huge life changes, when I didn’t know what came next.

Art has always drawn me back. It calls to me, reminds me that it’s my therapy, my deep breath, the place where I lose myself once I’m in the zone.

It’s always been there, waiting.

And now, I’m giving it space.

Sweet Ruby Moon is where my art lives now. It can live with you, too, if it speaks to you.

It’s not layered with hidden meanings or made to be over-analyzed.

You don’t have to “get it.”

I don’t want you to feel like you need to “understand” it.

Tilt your head and squint if you want. But you don’t have to ;-)
If it speaks to you, if you connect with it in your own way, that’s all it needs to do.

I make what feels right: Layered textures, neutral tones, the occasional bold stroke when the energy calls for it.
Work that’s meant to be lived with. On your walls, in your space, beside your books and plants, maybe tucked among your collection of favorite coffee mugs.

This blog won’t be filled with fluff. I’ll share a little of what goes into the work. Not just the “here’s what I’m working on,” but the honest stuff too.
The blank canvas feeling. The overthinking. The messy middle.
Maybe a few thoughts on collecting art, especially if you’ve ever felt like art is for “other people.”

Spoiler: It’s not.

I’ll also be sharing ideas on styling your art, making a gallery wall, and finding frames that actually work in your space, so your home feels more like you, not just like everyone else’s.

I hope you’ll stick around. I hope my art makes you happy.

Getting started is tough when your audience is small. Right now it's mostly a few friends and my mom (hi Mom).

But this is where it begins.

I’m really glad you’re here.

It’s low-key and totally spam-free. Just me, sending the good stuff your way first.
